Videos and Firmware Releases

Happy Wednesday Everyone,

As usual it’s been a busy couple of weeks.

Firmware Updates!

We’ve had a couple of firmware releases and we are now up to firmware version 1.17.

Version 1.16 involved some pretty major structural changes to how the code is organized. ESP3D was integrated into the same repo along with an automated documentation system. These changes were aimed at making it easier for folks to contribute and making it easier for the AI bot to interact with all of the files in one place. More on that later.

From a user perspective the config menu has been updated to hopefully contain all of the settings that most users will need to interact with in one place. The configuration menu now looks like this:

There should be no reason for most users to need to edit any settings outside of this panel (at least that is the goal). The calibration grid size and orientation are now detected automatically by default.

The calibration process will now automatically terminate after 10 tries to prevent the issue that we were seeing with folks letting it run forever.

There is now a ‘work area’ configuration setting which confines the machine to move only in that area and prevents it from going too far accidentally.

There are numerous bug fixes most notably a bug in the trace boundary function which could misunderstand arcs and their sizes.

The process of locating the anchor points will now automatically detect flawed measurements and discard them which improves the process reliability and consistency. The calculation of the math is also faster now.

Belt positions will now be saved in the "Extended Out" state so if you power cycle the machine after using "Release Tension" to remove it from the frame you won't need to retract and extend again.

The wifi will now automatically reconnect if the connection is lost due to signal strength issues.

As always let us know if you find any bugs or have ideas about how it could be better! As always you can find the latest firmware version here.

Its Easier Than Ever to Contribute!

As an open source project we’re always working to make it easier for everyone to contribute. Being able to benefit from the ideas and suggestions of the community is where the strength of open source projects comes from. To try to make that as easy as possible we’ve built a bot to help. You can check out a “how to” video on it here:

Pavl-off Kickstarter

Pavl-off is a side project that I’ve been working on. I’m not sure if there is much overlap between the Maslow world, but I figured I would share it anyway. It’s something that I built for myself that I am enjoying so much I wanted to share it. Check it out!

That’s it for this update. Have a great week everyone!
