A Long Overdue Update

Hello Everyone!

We are LONG overdue for an update, but I keep putting it off and now there is so much to cover that now I can’t remember it all.

Project and Forum Links:

I’ve been keeping a running list of interesting links from the forums so here are some of the exciting things that we’ve seen since the last newsletter.

@steve70 built this beautiful manger puzzle.

@oddbyte made this display for honey jars which came out wonderfully.

We’ve seen some pencil holders in the past, but this 3D printed pencil lead holder from @ian_ab is a first as a way to convert your Maslow into a giant plotter.

@kevin.w.davis Cut out this club sign as his first cut:

@pholtzman built this incredible crib sleeper.

@Adam_Schreiber constructed this custom case for a turtle shell ukulele (which he also made!):

@TravisGood Did this cutout of a cowboy kid for an excellent test cut:

@wouldchuck saw his neighbor throwing away a particle board cabinet and decided to turn it into something cooler so he made this awesome giant scull!

Even cooler, he modeled the whole thing in Abundance (the free and open source CAD modeling software that we have been working on).

@RandomDave heavily modified his Maslow to use linear rails for the Z-axis and I think that it came out great!

@Bryan1 pointed out that Muscle Chuck now sells an adapter for the Dewalt 611 that can make tool changes a lot easier!

and @Sylvain_Dorais made herb splitters for all of his family and friends for Christmas. I didn’t even know that these existed before but now I want one!

Firmware Updates:

The firmware is now up to version 1.15 and we’ve made a lot of improvements with the main goal being to get the setup process as smooth and automated as possible. The big changes are that we’ve moved pretty much all of the settings that you might need to get up and running into the config menu and automated everything else to minimize the learning curve and potential for human error.

We’ve also fixed a number of bugs, so I very much recommend the update.

We are in the midst of a project to re-organize how the software is built, but you can find the latest version as always at: https://github.com/MaslowCNC/Maslow_4/releases

4.1 Upgrade Kits Back in Stock:

After being sold out for a little while Maslow 4.1 upgrade kits are now back in stock! We’ve also restocked pretty much everything else which was sold out. You can find them in the shop.

International Shipping:

To reduce the burden of tariffs we set up shipping so that international orders would ship directly from China meaning that we wouldn’t have to pay tariffs for those goods coming into the US and then potentially tariffs again when they get sent out internationally. In theory this was a great plan, but in practice the warehouse that we were working with in China was not able to ship things in a timely manner or provide consistent tracking information so we’ve decided to stop working with them.

I am working to find a new way to minimize tariffs for international orders and our new plan is for international orders to ship from Canada instead. I have a friend there who can handle shipping, but it will take some time to get that up and running.

Have a great week everyone!
